FAQ

What methods of payment do you accept?
I currently accept payment through e-transfer or cash. Please note: payment is due at the end of each session and an official receipt will be issued to you via email upon payment. A session must be paid for before the next session is booked.

Will sessions be covered under my benefits plan?
Many insurance companies provide benefits for counselling. Please inquire directly with your benefits provider to inquire if they cover sessions with a registered clinical counsellor/RCC. You may want to inquire about the benefit amount that is covered.

Do you do direct billing?
No, I don’t do direct billing. I will issue you an official receipt for the session and you can submit the receipt to your benefits provider for reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?
Please inform me as soon as possible if you need to cancel an appointment. A late cancellation or missed appointment leaves a gap in my schedule that could have been filled by another client. For this reason, I require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to appointment time. Sickness and emergencies are exempted at my discretion.

What should I expect from the free consultation?
The free consultation is an opportunity for us to meet and get to know one another. You will have an opportunity to share with me about the areas you want to work on in counselling and your goals. I will share my approach with you and answer any questions you might have. This gives us both an opportunity to assess fit. It is important to choose a counsellor that feels right for you. Research shows that a positive fit between counsellor and client makes a significant different in treatment outcomes.

Do you have weekend availability?
Yes, I offer sessions on Saturdays between 9 - 5 pm.

Do you have evening times available?
Yes, I offer evening sessions on Thursdays.

How long is a session?
A traditional therapy session is 50 minutes long. Some clients might prefer a longer session. If that’s the case, you are welcome to book an 80 minutes long session with me.

What will a first session look like?
During a first session, we will unpack what is bringing you in for counselling and I will inquire about your goals for therapy. I will ask open-ended questions to learn more about you and we will explore the areas that feel most pertinent to you. This involves exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. We will also explore any background information or history you would like to share with me.

How many sessions will I need?
This is completely up to you and it will all depend on the progress that you feel you are making and the needs that you have for counselling. It will also depend on your budget.

How quickly can I expect to see results?
Individual therapy is an unfolding process that requires a commitment of time, energy, and effort on both the part of the counsellor and the client. The more effort a client makes to practice new skills in their daily life, the more likely a client will be to experience a reduction in symptoms and feelings of improved well-being.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?
Yes, I do. Please inquire with me to learn more about sliding scale options.
